In Numbers Chapter 11, God is telling the people to consecrate themselves and prepare to eat meat. Of course Moses said they did not have enough livestock to feed everyone. Then God answered Moses: “The Lord answered Moses, ‘Is the Lord’s arm too short? Now you will see whether or not what I say will come true for you.’” Numbers 11:23(NIV)
God did show Moses that His arm was not too short. Moses called seventy of the elders and God took “some of the power of the Spirit from him and put it on the seventy elders” and they prophesied. (Numbers 11:28 NIV) The people did receive meat without even killing any of the livestock. God provided the meat.
How often do we need to be reminded of God’s answer to Moses?
In the New Testament, God has promised his followers that He was coming back to take them to an eternal home that He was going to prepare. (John 14).
Later, in the book of Acts 2 it tells about the Holy Spirit being given to His followers. His followers received the Holy Spirit and were able to do remarkable things. If you are a follower of Christ, you too have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you. You too can do great things. God’s arm is not too short!
Because God’s arm is not too short Paul was able to say: I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13(NIV)
We can worry about our country and who will become president. Some people even worry that Christians will be persecuted if we get the wrong President. The behavior of the people has more to do with the future of the country than the person elected to President.
When you begin to be discouraged with the political candidates, remember that God’s arm is not too short to save this country and restore Christian values, if that is His plan. Jesus is still preparing a place for us. Someday soon we will be with Him eternally, God’s arm is not ‘too short’!
